An antique hand operated stamping press, likely from the late 19th century. The stamp has a black coated handle with gilt coated metal. The piece shows obvious wear from use particularly on one side with rubbing and divots in the black handle coating (see photos). There is also antique wear and patina on the gilded bronze metal finish. The stamp does push all the way down on to paper with some force and does pop back up. It may need help popping back up with some pulling. It is difficult to make out all the French words on the stamp including possibly "Cochet". This may have been a notary stamp or business mark for products or paperwork. Size: 7.5 x 2".
This product does not include ink or ink products and is sold as is. The date and location of manufacture is unknown to us.
