An antique Italian renaissance revival wood casket box. Likely from the early 20th century or late 19th century. The box has a visual depiction of cherubs of putti dancing around a tree with a scenic background. The image is somewhat darkened from age. It's unclear to us if this image is handpainted or a print that is varnished. There are chips in the image and in the framed wood around the image. There is decorative tooling applied to the box and it has a darkened gilt tone. Please see photos for the areas of chips and bumps, particularly along the box edges. The base is squared off and flairs out a bit. The hinge is solid, but the box opens all the way. The wood inside has a dark finish. There is an antique style sticker on the bottom that says "Italy". Size: 9 7/8 x 5 3/8 x 4 3/4".
